James Reyne’s Australian Crawl to Solo Success and Beyond
James Reyne is an Australian singer-songwriter and musician born May 19, 1957, in Lagos, Nigeria. He is popular as the lead singer of the Australian rock band, Australian Crawl, which had several hit songs in the 1980s, including “Reckless”, “Boys Light Up” and “Downhearted”. After Australian Crawl disbanded in 1986, Reyne began a successful solo career, releasing several albums and continuing to perform live.
Reyne’s solo hits include “Fall of Rome”, “Motor’s Too Fast”, “Hammerhead”, and “Slave”. He has also worked as an actor, appearing in the Australian television series “The Flying Doctors” and the film “Return to Eden”. Reyne was inducted into the Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) Hall of Fame in 1996 as a member of the Australian Crawl.
